What Brijon does here
Brijon M. owns MadGrey LLC, the company that publishes Riffle & Reel, and writes every page on the site. That includes the research, the specification verification, the scoring and the copy — there is no content team and no freelance pool behind the byline.
The editorial brief he set for the site is narrow on purpose: write for the person who does not own a fly rod yet. That means plain language over jargon, one default pick per category over a list of ten, and an explicit “who should skip it” on every recommendation.
What this byline does not claim
Gear sites routinely imply hands-on testing they have not done, so it is worth being direct about the limits of this one.
- No claim to have fished every product reviewed here. Where a page describes how a rod loads or how a wader holds up, that comes from published specifications and the consistent reported experience of people who own it — never dressed up as a personal day on the water.
- No testing lab. No destructive testing, no measured deflection, no breaking-strain rig. The scoring is editorial judgment against a published rubric, and it is labeled as such on every page it appears.
- No professional credentials asserted. No guiding license, no casting instructor certification, no shop affiliation. If any of that changes it will appear here with the issuing body named.
Corrections and contact
If something on this site is wrong — a discontinued model still listed, a specification that does not match the manufacturer's current page, a chart that has fallen behind a standard — the fastest way to get it fixed is to say so. Mail goes to contact@riffleandreel.com and reaches Brijon directly.
Corrections are made on the page itself, and the Last reviewed date in the byline moves when they are. We do not quietly edit and leave the old date in place.
What will not get a response: requests to buy a link, requests to be added to a roundup, and offers of free product in exchange for coverage. See how we choose for why.
